Name: Jeanne M. Sutton
Location: Jacksonville, FL
Profession: Interpreter
I was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan. I grew up in a very musical family and ended up studying Music at Central Michigan University (Fire up Chips!) where I earned my Bachelor’s degree. After college I moved to northern Michigan and tried my hand at the hospitality industry.
In the summer of 1995, I fell in love and moved to Jacksonville to be with Jerry, my husband. In the fall, I lucked into a job at America Online (AOL). I loved it! Things in the company started to change and I felt I needed to move on. I floundered around for a few years and finally decided to go back to school.
In 2005, I enrolled at the local community college to study American Sign Language. After a few semesters of learning the language I entered the Sign Language Interpreter Program and graduated with an Associate degree in Interpreting, May of 2008.
I am currently employed by the Duval County Public School System as an interpreter.
